Piper Turns 1

How do you decorate a first birthday cake? With polk-a-dots of course. Pink and Green polk-a-dots to be exact. Piper went to town on her first piece of chocolate cake. Just the way it should be.

Character Cakes

Character Cakes are always so much fun. Taking a favorite character and turning them into edible art starts with a simple picture. I can create them from an invitation or even a coloring book drawing. Using a coloring book drawing is actually the easiest way for me to create the character. Simple outlines, then adding coloring and or course a fun background. Here are the Super Mario Brothers on Brian's 7th Birthday Cake. I also made "M" and "L" cookies for Mario and Luigie, as the party favors.

Baby Shower Favors

Lia is having a baby girl and the favors for her shower are pink and brown baby rattles. We decided to go with a few different designs. Here are some of them. These cookies make great favors.

Jess & Mike's Welcome Treats

Jess & Mike were getting married in Key West and they wanted cookies for the guest bags they were giving people at the hotels. We went with the colors they used for the wedding and used their first initials since the wedding hadn't happened yet.

Cupcakes, who doesn't enjoy a little cake made just for them?

Cupcakes are such a special treat. They are the perfect size for anyone to enjoy. Cupcakes are probably the easiest cake to serve, no cutting, no dishing, just pick up and eat goodness. There's so much you can do with them, from the flavors to the decorations. While most of the cupcakes you are going to see here were made for kids, I never think of them as a kids only cake. Actually, they can be quite sophisticated. I think that's part of the reason why they have become so popular. By definition, they are small cakes baked in a mold that is shaped like a cup. So basically, any type of cake you can dream up, you can turn into a cupcake.
